JODIE DIXON-MEARS began her employment with the Lake Worth Playhouse February 23, 2004; she has been associated with the Playhouse as a volunteer since 1979.  Born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania she moved to Florida in 1972.  She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theatre from the University of Florida and a Master’s degree in Acting/Directing from West Virginia University.

An award-winning actor, director and educator she has worked in the arts and entertainment industry since 1980. Upon graduating from college, Jodie worked with such companies as Williamstown Theatre Festival, the Jupiter Theatre, Royal Palm Dinner Theatre and many touring productions. Seeking a well-rounded experience in all aspects of theatre, Jodie worked as a drama teacher at Santaluces High School, where she also headed the Drama Department. She was a house manager for Florida Stage and the box office manager for Clear Channel Entertainment for the Broadway Series at the Kravis Center and Royal Poinciana Playhouse.

Jodie is also an accomplished director. Some of her favorite productions include Big River, Into the Woods, The Boys Next Door, Quilters, Shooting Stars, The Good Times Are Killing Me and The Crucible. Favorite acting roles include Dolly in Hello Dolly, Molly in The Unsinkable Molly Brown, Princess Fred in Once Upon A Mattress, Kathy in Vanities and Natasha in The Three Sisters. Jodie has also performed and directed in England and Wales.

Jodie lives in Lake Worth with her husband, Daryl, and her gorgeous son, Gregory.
