Hollywood Arms is the nostalgic story of three generations of women living in a one-room apartment, one block north of Hollywood Boulevard.  The characters include a tough, funny, yet tender, pill-popping Christian Scientist grandmother; a beautiful, but distant mother struggling to be a writer, only to drown her ambitions in a bottle; and a young girl whose only escape is on the roof of their rundown building where she creates her own magical world at the foot of the Hollywood Hills.  This funny and moving story about shattered hopes and realized dreams is based on the childhood of legendary entertainer Carol Burnett.

Thoroughly Modern Millie

Book by: Richard Henry Morris

Music by: Jeanine Tesori

New Lyrics by: Dick Scanian

January 18th through February 3rd, 2008

Thoroughly Modern Millie is a high-spirited musical romp that had all of New York dancing the Charleston. It’s the zany new 1920’s musical that took Broadway by storm!

Taking place in New York City in 1922, Thoroughly Modern Millie tells the story of young Millie Dillmount, who has just moved to the city in search of a new life for herself. It’s a New York full of intrigue and jazz - a time when women were entering the workforce and the rules of love and social behavior were changing forever.

Filled with frisky flappers, dashing leading men and a dragon-lady of a villainess audiences will love to hate, Thoroughly Modern Millie is a perfectly constructed evening of madcap merriment.

Modern Orthodox

Romantic Comedy

By: Daniel Goldfarb

February 29th through March 16th, 2008

The characters in Modern Orthodox are diametrically opposed (one is Orthodox and the other a "high holiday" Jew), Ben - a self-centered Upper West Side financial consultant with a bit of a mean streak but some great lines, and Hershel ("call me Hersh") - a hyperkinetic diamond sales-man who totes a briefcase, a gun and a bagful of comic neuroses, are thrown together when Ben purchases an engagement ring for his live-in girlfriend and doctor, Hannah. Tension mounts during the negotiation, and to seal the deal, Hershel reluctantly consents when Ben insists he take off his yarmulke.

And that's when the fun begins ... Hershel's life falls apart and Ben and Hannah find themselves trying to put it back together again by finding him a wife. Being a modern couple, they turn to the internet as Matchmaker ...

Enter deadpan Rachel, who is tired of men leering at her at Jewish singles events like The Matzah Ball and wants to get married so that she can finally have sex!
In the end the play leads the characters and the audience to consider the value in how others choose to live their lives, before judging!

Book by: Larry L. King and Peter Masterson

Lyrics by Carol Hall

April 11th through April 27th, 2008

The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas is based on the true story of a legendary Texas Brothel known as the Chicken Ranch, which operated from the 1840’s to 1973.   This musical dramatizes the real-life story of a legendary house of ill-repute that remained open for many years until the Governor orders the local Sheriff to shut it down.  Protected by a friendly Sheriff and frequented by politicians, football teams and others, the Chicken Ranch thrived in the small town of Gilbert, Texas.  Girls come from all over to work at the ranch and make a little extra cash.  However, a crusading do-gooder Houston radio commentator and his conservative audience expose the Chicken Ranch forcing it to shut its doors forever.  The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas is a rip-roaring, high octane production! Join Miss Mona and her girls as they take on the establishment
