Summer Camp 2010

for kids ages 6-17

Lake Worth Playhouse Summer Performance Camps give kids a unique theatrical experience! Campers learn acting, voice, dance and stage movement through daily activities and rehearsals, which culminate in full-scale productions of popular musicals: Pocahontas (June 7-25) and Magic of Oz (July 19- August 13).

Campers will be separated into different Creative Stage classes based on age groupings. Campers 12 and older will also have the opportunity to participate in behind-the-scenes roles and other theatre-related educational opportunities based on a variety of interests.

Summer Camp Session 1

Pocahontas

Mon-Fri June 7-25
(with pre-camp Saturday sessions April 17 - June 5)

Filled with Native American lore and beautiful music, this play is true to the original legend of Pocahontas, daughter of the mighty Algonquin Chief Powhatan. Kids love this story of the enchanting princess who delights in playing with her friends, Raven, Wolf and Squirrel ... and who famously helps the English settlers of Jamestown as they face the unknown challenges of starting a new life in a new world. The “Wordspinner” and the rhythmic beat of the tom-toms open and close this charming musical adventure for all age groups.

The Magical
Land of Oz

A Mini-Musical
based on the classic L. Frank Baum Book!

When Dorothy's house squashes the Wicked Witch of the East, she and her dog, Toto, set out on the adventure that has charmed millions. With her friends, Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion and Tin Woodsman, this remarkable journey takes them to the great Oz, who will only grant them their wishes if they rid the world of the Wicked Witch of the West. This mini-musical of the popular full-length musical Oz! has the same action and music that has made the original a family favorite.

Prices include camp t-shirts, classroom materials, costumes and performance meals (between Friday performances of Pocahontas).

Aftercare provided at $10 per hour per child , Mon-Fri 5:00-6:00pm.
